W.O.W.

On Wednesdays, we have our mid-week programs and small group studies for all ages. Supper is offered at 5:30 pm followed by activities and classes for all ages at 6:30 pm. There is something for all ages, and so we encourage everyone to attend the Wednesday programs.  The Scripture reminds us to "Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" (2 Peter 3:18).  Therefore, we urge you to make every effort to make Wednesday nights a church family night - and to set aside the evening time to come for a time of fun, fellowship and spiritual growth.  Also, this is an ideal time to invite a friend, neighbor, co-worker or anyone that you want to bring to our W.O.W. programs. Fill in your choices on the sign-up form that is included on this page and submit it.  If you wish to help or lead a group in the future or have any questions and/or suggestions, please talk to our Minister of Christian Education and Spiritual Formation, Felicia Kumar.  You can call her at 615/459-2826, extension 13,  615/553-2044 (home) or email her at: felicia.kumar@smyrnafirstumc.org

BIBLE PROPHECY-Led by James Dickens
The overall goal for this class is to make us aware of prophecy and to show how God keeps His promises. A lot of us tend to dismiss what is happening in the world because we are scared that if Christ is indeed returning, then we would have to deal with our sin. By looking at prophecy, those that have been fulfilled and those yet to come, we can better understand where we are in relationship to Christ’s return and the importance of reconciling our sin before God and to start working on building a daily relationship with Christ.

“LATE BLOOMERS” Women’s Bible Study on Prayer-Led by Nita Wright
In the midst of our hectic lives, we tend to lag behind in our devotion to God. This study will focus on the importance of prayer in our daily lives. We will be using the book “Becoming a Woman of Prayer” by Cynthia Herald. This will lead us through an examination of what the Bible teaches us about prayer. It will also encourage us to respond to God’s invitation to intimacy with Him in response to His desire for a relationship with us. Women of all ages are encouraged to participate!

LETTERS FROM PATMOS-Led by Dr. John Michael Jones
A detailed study on the first three chapters of the Book of Revelation. Unlike some of the more familiar New Testament books, these letters are tucked away in the first three chapters in Revelation. And, they are every bit as practical for us today as the letters written by Paul, Peter, or James. Seven letters to
churches that existed in the first century...but as we go through our study, you will think they were written to us today.

LIVING FULLY, DYING WELL:
AN EIGHT-WEEK VIDEO BASED STUDY-Led by Rev. Joe Elliott

Most of us, or perhaps all of us, have questions about life and death. Our best decisions about life’s most important events are seldom made in a time of crisis. The study “Living Fully, Dying Well” is designed to help us in making careful, wise, and prayerful preparation for meeting life’s most important moments Topics include biblical and social perspectives on age and growing older, which practical legal decisions are important for everyone, what happens when we die, and how we can live each day to the fullest...starting today. If you have been struggling or have questions about faith and morality, make a prayerful commitment to join the study group.

WHAT IS BIBLE ANYWAY?
Led by Moses Kumar

This study will begin with basic information about the Bible and its content. Later, we will begin to explore that God speaks through the pages of the Bible-that, however He does it, His Word comes alive and hits our hearts. Despite difficulties with some passages, the collection is sacramental and according to 2 Timothy 3:16, “All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.” The only way to find this out is to experience it. Let us study prayerfully and be blessed by God’s Word!
