More Than Enough

Dear Church Family,

I’ve noticed a concerning trend that seems to affect us all. That trend is that in some way we worry about not having enough. For some of us, it’s feeling like we don’t have enough gifts or talents to make a difference. We feel like we’re too old or too young or simply aren’t good at anything. Or we feel like we don’t have enough strength or energy. We’re tired and weary from the ceaseless demands of life or failing physical health. We also feel like we don’t have enough time. We struggle to balance our time among work, family, friends, volunteer, and other commitments. Finally, we feel like we don’t have enough money. We worry about mounting credit card debt, paying the bills, having enough money to send our kids to school, cover medical bills, or to last through retirement. We all worry about not having enough of something!

This fear of not having enough leaves us trapped in a vicious cycle of anxiety and fear and living in a mentality of scarcity, instead of focusing on the abundance of what God gives us. This October, I invite you to break the cycle of thinking you don’t have enough! Come to our 8:30 contemporary service or 11:00 traditional service every Sunday in October for our sermon series “More than Enough.” We’ll find reassurance and hope as we learn how God does give us more than enough and how God invites us into a joyful and fulfilling life of giving to others out of our abundance of gifts, strength, time, and money.

At the end of our sermon series on October 27, you will have an opportunity to offer the enclosed commitment card as an act of worship. Please prayerfully consider how God gives you more than enough and how God is calling you to give of your abundant gifts, strength, time, and money. We would love for you to be present with us on the 27th, because it will be a powerful and meaningful day of worship as we offer our collective commitments to the Lord. However, if you can’t be with us then, you may also drop your commitment card off at the church during the following week.

I pray God’s blessings on you and look forward to seeing how God will provide more than enough for us as individuals and as a church as we strive to do the work God is calling us to do.

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Theresa

“Now to God who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, to God be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”

Ephesians 3:20-21
