Nuts & Bolts

Greetings Smyrna First UMC Family,

We all had a great time at Nashville Shores Sunday! It is always special worshiping and spending the day in community with other United Methodist Churches in the Tennessee Conference.

Summer is coming to a close but we have many events to get involved with coming up!

What is Happening this Week:

  • Wednesday 7/18- eXchange Youth Night!  6:30-8pm @ the church. It has been awhile since we have a youth night at the church. Come join us for a topic discussion on unity and fun games! Please make sure you come to the fellowship hall side!

Upcoming Events:

* You all should have received a letter in the mail last week with these events on it. I hope that you will join us for these events below. Remember these are not youth events, these events are for the families, volunteers, and please bring friends.*

  • Sunday August 5th "Cookout and games at the Wright's" 6-8pm. All adults and students are highly encouraged to attend to welcome our new youth and send off our college students. We will also have a brief meeting to go over fall events and update youth forms for the year so PARENTS I encourage you to please plan on coming! There will be plenty of food, games, and fellowship!

  • Sunday August 12th the youth will be hosting a “Messy Games Night” at the church from 5:00-7:00pm .  I invite all youth, parents/guardians, and volunteers to come out and have fun with us as we welcome our new sixth graders Here is a list of what you will need to bring: Side items (Chips, dips, salads ETC), Desserts, Drinks, Lawn Chairs, CLOTHES TO GET MESSY IN, and a change of clothes. ADULTS do not have to play, but we invite you to come eat/hangout with us. If you would like to play, you are more than welcome!

  • Nashville Sounds Night Sunday August 19th . JOIN HUNDREDS OF UNITED METHODISTS FROM ACROSS THE TENNESSEE CONFERENCE AT THE FIRST TENNESSEE PARK TO CHEER ON THE NASHVILLE SOUNDS AAA BASEBALL TEAM VS NEW ORLEANS AAA BASEBALL TEAM. Tickets Are $10.00 Each. This not a youth event, this event is for all ages. We encourage families to come to worship and watch baseball together as a church family. I will need  people on stand by to drive. Please see me by August 15th if you are wanting to go.

These three events help set the pace for our youth events for the new school year, so I strongly urge you to attend. I look forward to what God has planned out for us this year.
