Dear Smyrna First UMC,

With mixed emotions I want inform you that after much prayerful consideration I have accepted a position as Events and Retreat Director at Beersheba Springs Assembly. My new position begins January 2nd, my last worship service will be December 16th. These past 3 1/2 years have been a great growing experience for me as I have continued my calling in ministry. I have been blessed to work alongside this amazing congregation, staff, and youth. I will forever cherish the memories that I have at Smyrna First United Methodist Church. Thank you for being a vital part of my life and ministry. I appreciate you all very much.

As I sit here writing my last youth newsletter, I am overcome with emotion. To say that I have been blessed these last 3 ½ years is an understatement. I have formed such a bond with this congregation, I am proud and honored to call you my family. In some way each of you has shown me Christ by your love and actions, thank you for being part of my journey. Know that I am only a phone call or a visit away. With heartfelt thanks and gratitude I say to you know that God is with you, God loves you, and so do I.

As I get ready to depart from Smyrna First UMC, know that I have worked hard to make this transition run as smoothly as possible. The Youth Ministry Leader Team is prepared to keep youth going. Debra Haislar, Christi Coon, Lee Anne Sanford, and Chris Spain are working together to keep Wednesday night programming going. They are also working together for Warmth in Winter (please see next page for details). I have full confidence in them to walk alongside our youth. I ask you as the congregation to work with them and ask how you can help. This congregation is blessed with precious youth that need this loving congregation to stand by them.

Thanks for letting me be a part of this loving congregation. I will miss you all! Please don’t hesitate to keep in touch:  931-703-9270 or

How Do You Picture Advent?

Join Christians around the world as we all celebrate Advent, the season when we prepare our hearts, minds and souls for the coming of Christ! This year, let's be sure we don't rush through this special season straight to Christmas. Advent is a special time and we want to help you make it a special experience for yourself, your family, and your church.

Join our Photo Challenge. We want to share our Advent celebration with all our friends and family, so we're inviting you to use each day's theme to inspire a daily photo. Post each day with the theme and #pictureadvent so we can all be inspired together! If you would like to be a part of this, you may grab the photo challenge outside Trevor’s office, check your email or youth facebook page. There is also an option to receive daily devotions that can be sent to your phone or email each day! If you would like to sign up or to receive more information visit .

Fire and Ice Recap….

Another year on the mountain complete! It was COLD, we had a few technical difficultiess, but despite all of that God was present. We had a wonderful time joining with Fort Donelson Memorial UMC this year. Friendships were made, we had fun, and we glorified God through it all! Thankful for all the leaders and youth that made this year possible. This year our theme was “Hit Pause: Find God” We spent time with God talking about our priories and how to take Rest in God.
